Training Opportunities for Current Providers
The following trainings are available to regulated child care providers in our service delivery area of Sheboygan, Manitowoc, and Fond du Lac Counties. All our trainings promote quality child care and professionalism in the early learning and education setting. Listed below are trainings available by Family Connections for you and your staff! If you are interested in having Family Connections come to your center or home, or hold trainings at Family Connections, please contact us. Some of the trainings listed below may also be open trainings in the future.
- Brain Training In this training you will discover how to apply brain research to working with young children (and/or staff-focused), it will address learning styles and will teach how to honor diverse learning preferences, plus more!
- Creative Curriculum This training allows providers to understand and utilize Creative Curriculum (an assessment & observation tool) in your child care program!
- Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards The Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS) are specific developmental expectations for children. They provide a shared framework for understanding and communicating these expectations for young children's development and are a guide for professionals and parents. They will also help provide an understanding of how to improve the conditions necessary for a child's optimal development. Lastly, providers will learn how to implement WMELS into their child care program!
- Protective Factors Keeping our children physically safe and happy is one of the most important jobs we have as caregivers. In this training, providers are given information on how best to communicate with parents and network with community resources to strengthen the families you serve.
- Professional Development Plan Reviewers Two staff members at Family Connections are state-approved PDP Reviewers. If you or a staff member are in need of guidance for creating your PDP, please feel free to contact us and we can set up an appointment!
- Shaken Baby Syndrome Stand Alone Training and Train-the-Trainer If you are in need of a Shaken Baby Syndrome Training, please contact us. The stand alone training is mandated for all regulated child care providers. In the training you will learn how to prevent & identify Shaken Baby Syndrome. Statistical and scientific information is shared, as well as handouts & other resources. The Train-the-Trainer, not mandated, provides the training, rules, and resources needed to become an approved Shaken Baby Syndrome trainer.
